Gram Jagat is a Trust registered under the Indian Trust Act, 1882 having its origin in Chatabaran village, in Banka district situated in the southern part of eastern Bihar along the boundary line of Bihar-Jharkhand State. The area is inhabiting domination of tribal population combined with poor scheduled caste and the most backward classes totally depending upon agriculture without any means of irrigation who could hardly improve the living standard, awareness level, educational level, financial status and life style even after 60 long years of independence. It was in the wake of the needs of the society that this organisation emerged in the year 1993 through the creative hands of youths of the area with the objective of achieving social transformation into educated, self-sustainable society practising equality, justice, peace and brotherhood is the vision of the society with special empowerment of Scheduled castes, Scheduled Tribe, Backward castes, weaker sections, women, children, destitute and deprived communities. It is due to the dedications of the youths that in a very short span of its origin it has widely expanded its programmes and activities in its target area and viewing its significant impacts in the area.
The registered area of operation is whole of India but presently the organisation is working in about 80 villages of Banka and Bhagalpur districts of Bihar and about 60 villages of Deoghar, Godda, Dhanbad districts of Jharkhand State.
